어제 우리 수업은 국립국악원으로 소풍을 갔어요. 거기에서 3급 학생들이 2시간 동안에 장구 치는 것을 배운 다음에 같이 식사 먹으러 국립국악원 식당에 갔어요. 장구 배운 것이 아주 재미있긴 하지만 제가 잘못 쳤어요.

이블로그에서 저의 별명 이 왕음치라고 불러요. 제가 음악 실력 한나도 없거든요. 노래를 못 부르고 박수 못 해요.

그래서 수업이중에서 장구 가르치는 선생님이 못하는 사람 이니까 또 천천히 하라고 했어요. 아직도 못해요. 선생님이 다시 또 천천히 하라고 했어요. 또 못해서 선생님이 나한태 다른 악기를 줬어요. “이악기 가 너무 쉬어요.” 라고 말했어요. 이악기는 징(gong) 이예요. 아주 쉬운 것 같긴 하지만 아직 도 잘못 쳐요. 연습하는 때 저를 돕기 위하여는 선생님은 그의 발을 두드렸다. 아… 창피 해요….

  1. I hope you don’t mind if I throw up some expression related thoughts on what you wrote.

    - 같이 식사 먹으러 국립국악원 식당에 갔어요 => 같이 식사하러 국립국악원 식당에 갔어요

    - 장구 배운 것이 아주 재미있긴 하지만 제가 잘못 쳤어요: ~기는 하다 is clearly one of the forms you are practicing, but this example doesn’t sound spot-on.  That ~기는 thing says “but,” but the implication is “only a little.” So you’ve said “It was a bit fun to learn the drum but I didn’t do very well.”  Usually one chooses to emphasize that it was fun, but only a bit (재미 있기는 했다), or that it was fun but I didn’t do so well (재미 있었지만 별로 못 했다), but not both at the same time.

    - 저의 별명 이 왕음치라고 불러요 => 별명 is not the subject of this sentence.

    - 박수 못 해요: “I can’t clap.”  Surely that’s not what you meant to say.

    - 그래서 수업이중에서 장구 가르치는 선생님이 못하는 사람 이니까 또 천천히 하라고 했어요: because of the way you’ve worded this, your reader initially is led to think that the teacher is the 못 하는 사람. I would have said “...선생님은 내가 못하는 사람...”

    Maybe that’s more frustrating than helpful.  My intent was helpful…

    Feedback is always good.

    - 같이 식사 먹으러 국립국악원 식당에 갔어요 => 같이 식사하러 국립국악원 식당에 갔어요

    I originally wrote what was on the left and my wife, a Korean, recommended changing it to what is on the right.

    ~긴하지만~ was explained by the teacher that you use it when contrasting one thing with itself. Something is good about A but something is also bad about A. As I understand it, there is nothing about it being only “a little”.

    I actually want to say that I can’t clap in time or keep a beat to save my life.

    re: 못하는 사람 - wooops

    ah.. I asked my wife to look at what you wrote re: ~긴하다~ and she said that you are correct. She told me that she didn’t want to correct all of my mistakes.

    Thanks for pointing that out and now I have a slightly better understanding of how to use this structure.
