Don’t run away~

Wow - this thing is really kicking off~!!  I’m so glad to see such a huge response.  ^__^

To raise a bit of a question/comment about the blog:
I know I’m much lower level than most of the writers here…  I’ve come across a few groups for studying Korean that have a bit of an elitist “keep up or get out” vibe cool mad, which I think is the worst attitude a language study group can have because it basically says if you’re not already perfect, we don’t want you.  In my mind, this blog was created to not be purely in Korean, so any readers who are overwhealmed (I am a bit) by the amount on it right now big surprise , don’t run away~!!  Feel free to post/comment in English (that doesn’t mean be lazy and never try to use 한국어).  We’re here to learn together~  raspberry
I think Oranckay put it well on his blog:
“There’s a new blog that is perhaps the best evidence yet that feeling no sense of embarrassment whatsoever goes a long way in helping you aquire a foreign language.”

Amen brother. As the site admin and one of the weaker members I have to say you captured my thoughts exactly.

  2. I am a super-ultra beginner - just going through Pimsleur and can’t really read Hangul yet.  I’m hoping this will give me motivation, and some helpful experts to bug.  Am I too amateur for this site?

Kendra - The great thing about this site is that it’s not set on any level. Even if you can’t take anything from a post that is higher than your current level you can still post about your study and seek support from the group. I think everything has something different to offer. (What does Pimsleur mean by the way?)

P.S. Philip would you please do a post on those Korean smilie faces and what each of them means. I understand the yellow ones, but the Korean ones lose me!

    Kendra,
Of course you are welcome. Just like 제비군 said any level is welcome. I do not want this site to become an elitist club. thought I am going to enable the swear filter as I want to keep it clean.

제비군 pimsleur is a language study series for around a hundred different langauges. I’ve heard mixed reports on quality so if Kendra would like to provide a review that would be fantastic.

btw - Kendra I changed your permissions and your now set to post.
