Chinese Pod

Do you listen to Korean MP3s?

Chinese Pod is an amazing learning resource for Chinese. There really should be one of these for Korean learners, but I haven’t been able to find one. If anyone knows some good Korean listening resources I would be eternally grateful.

If someone were to start a Korean podcast for learners they would be well advised to check out this review by Mark including comments. Also Sinosplice has a post up with 60+ comments and finally A Glimpse of the World has a lengthy review.
hat tip to Gord.

*update* added a poll - if you know where to find some Korean MP3s for listening please comment.

    1. Good idea. I listen to podcasts that I have others make for me. If I find an interesting book, I record a Korean friend reading it.

It would be great to start a collection of MP3 files here. I’m always looking for more.

      Scott,

If you would like to share the books that you have had your friend record I would gladly post them here. One of my friends has suggested doing that as well.

    3. Since moving to Tawian, I’ve often been frustrated at how much fewer and poorer the resources for Chinese learners are compared to those for Japanese learners.  Don’t be fooled by the rating I gave Chinese Pod in my review.  While I wouldn’t recommend throwing your textbooks and CDs out the window for it yet, there’s no doubt that CPod has amazing potential. It’s still in its infancy

My guess is that resources for learners of Korean are even more sparse.  What percentage of the foreigners you meet in Korea are there for language learning?

      Mark,
If you mean foreigners who came with the primary purpose of learning Korean - I know of zero. I’m sure there are a few, but none that I am aware of. Of the long term expats many are not interested in learning anything beyond a few stock phrases.

    5. Wow, that really is a stark contrast.  In Taiwan, I’d say about 20% of the foreigners I’ve met have come here specifically for learning Chinese.  At my old school, Shida, there were over 4,000 foreigners studying during any given semester.  I know of literally 15 other schools for CSL learners in the same city, too.  They’re outnumbered by the SE Asian brides and the English teachers, but there are still a lot of people who come here to learn Chinese.

what kind of listening resources do you need?
      any kind?

      try this.
this is a follow-up web service for a book for Korean learning called ‘Korean mad easy’

you may need the book to study with this resource but still it does have some listening resources.

or if your Korean is above certain level, vod service from many broadcasting companies might be helpful.

If it doesn’t have to be online resources, there are some audiobooks available. If you can’t find any, let me know.

      future-kteacher,

I listened to a couple of those files and they are too easy for me but would be good for beginners. Thanks for dropping by and I hope you continue to come here.

      다시 듣기 할 수 있습니다.
듣기 공부에 너무 많이 도움 될 것 같아요.

오디오북과 라디오 문학관이라는 게시판 두 개가 있는데
      오디오북은 유료이고
      라디오 문학관은 무료입니다.

라디오 문학관은 한국문학과 외국작품들이 많이 많이 있습니다.
      너무 괜찮은 것 같아요.
if you have any problem in trying this one, let me know, I’ll do whatever I can to help you..
