Today I recieved the following note from the teacher at my daughters kindergarten I understood everything except a couple of vocabulary items which are highlighted in the extended entry. Of course any Korean typos are mine.

안녕하세요.
오즐 한 어긴이가 수두에 걸린 것이 확인되어 급하게 편지를 보냅니다. 요즘 수두가 유행하기 시작한다는 의사선생님의 발에 따라 부모님께 부탁을 드립니다. 수두는 전염성이 강하오니 악간의 의심이 들때도 유치원을 보내지 마시고 병원 치료를 꼬 받으시길 부탁드립니다. 수두가 발생하면 통상 1주일 정도는 집에서 쉬어야 한다니 이점 꼭 기억해주세요.

유행하다 - season as in it is chicken pox season right now
의심 - doubt or uncertainty
전염성- contagious
발생하다 - happen

This is interesting…

I get the gist of the letter, but this sentence is throwing me.

“수두는 전염성이 강하오니 악간의 의심이 들때도 유치원을 보내지 마시고 병원 치료를 꼬 받으시길 부탁드립니다”

Something like “If you are uncertain if your child is contagious, then don’t send them to school, but go see a hospital for treatment.”

I can’t figure out why kindergarten is an object?

Even in the English sentence your wrote Kindergarten is the object of send.

I’ve found this site today and really like it.
저도 한국말 공부하고있어요.
요즘 language exchange 할까 말까 생각하는 중이에요.

여기서 혹시 language exchange의 경험 있는 분 계셔요? 어땠어요?

언어교환, 한본 적이 없어요 근대 신간있으면 재가 would do it. (wish I knew the unreal conditional in Korean)

왕음치님께서도 언어교환을 해 보신 적이 없으시군요.
그런데 시간만 있으면 해보고 싶으신데, 시간이 없어서 못하신다는 말씀이시죠?

그런데, 혹시 재희 엄마가 한국분 아니신가요? ㅎㅎ
따로 언어교환이 필요하실 것 같지는 않은데요.

제 생각에 언어교환은 일대일로 하는 것이라서 어떤 사람과 하느냐에 따라 좋을 수도 있고 안 좋을 수도 있을 것 같아요.
진지하고 성실한 상대를 만날 수 있다면 아주 좋을 것 같아요.
Language Exchange is done one to one so, I think it really depends on whom you do it with.
If you can find a sincere and serious partner, that would be perfect.

맞아요. 재희엄마가 한국사람인데 우리 관계 (relationship?) 9년동안에 영어로 했어서 하국어로 변하는것이 좀 힘들어요. 그리고 우리 딸 하고 아들은 집에서 영어를 들어야돼요. 그래서 집에서 영어만 썰수 있는데요.

왕음치씨께 - 저도 다른 사람와 함께 만날 수 있는 시간 별로 없으니까 이메일로 하기로 했는데 사람찾기 조금 어려운 것 같아요.

혹시 좋은 언어교환사이트를 본 적이 있으세요?
