제비군

곧 있으면 미국에 갈 건데 몇 일 동안 글 못 올릴 것 같아요. 수요일 날에 서울에 올라가서 이틀동안 있을 예정이고 금요일에 비행기 타고 켈이포니아주에 있는 친구 댁에 들렀다가 다음주 화요일에 집에 도착할 거요. 그래서 거의 일주동안 인터넷 못 쓸 거요. 집에 도착해서 열심히 하는 모습으로 돌아올게요. 그때까지 여러분 열심히 하시길 바랄게요.

Wow - this thing is really kicking off~!! I’m so glad to see such a huge response. ^__^

To raise a bit of a question/comment about the blog:
I know I’m much lower level than most of the writers here… I’ve come across a few groups for studying Korean that have a bit of an elitist “keep up or get out” vibe , which I think is the worst attitude a language study group can have because it basically says if you’re not already perfect, we don’t want you. In my mind, this blog was created to not be purely in Korean, so any readers who are overwhealmed (I am a bit) by the amount on it right now , don’t run away~!! Feel free to post/comment in English (that doesn’t mean be lazy and never try to use 한국어). We’re here to learn together~
I think Oranckay put it well on his blog:
“There’s a new blog that is perhaps the best evidence yet that feeling no sense of embarrassment whatsoever goes a long way in helping you aquire a foreign language.”

거봉포도

안녕하세요, 저는 대희입니다. 저는 한국사람이지만, 한글이 창피할 정도로 서투릅니다.

그래서 여기 “한국언어 습득” 블로그에서 한글 쓰는 것을 연습 할려고 합니다.

王音癡

I recieved the following email asking me for help. But I am no Korean teacher and haven’t mastered reported speech myself. Anyone who is stronger than I am please help.

선생님아!
힌리히(Hinrich)라고 하는 유학생이에요. 좀 여쭤 보고 싶은 것이 있는데. I’m still confused about the numerous functions of the so-called “indirect speech"(간접화법). Besides real reporting, my grammar tells me, that it can also be used as some kind of “internal speech” which “reports thoughts, claims and feelings”. Could you explain this a bit?

Compared to Japanese and Chinese textbooks - my majors are Japanese and Chinese Studies - , Korean ones aren’t very comprehensive when it comes to explaining nuances… But maybe I just have the wrong books.
