I level tested at Sogang today. When the teacher asked me to introduce my self I said 이름이 왕음치 이예요. and then started laughing.
Everytime I tried to say something I started laughing because my mind was drawing a blank… I eventually asked the teacher to ask me questions. Once she started directing the conversation I did better but still not as good as I should have.
I am going to start in Level two which I think will be a little easy for me - but I don’t mind as I’ll be able to strengthen the foundation I have. I do know that if I had gone to level 3 I would have been able to do it, but would’ve really struggled and been weak. This way I’ll be strong and come out of it ready for level three. You can expect some Korean blogging from me starting December first though it will be light for the first couple of weeks as I’ll still be teaching until December 16.
I also made a new poll (it’s been ages since I changed it). How many hours per week do you study Korean? Currently I’m at zero, but vote will reflect my studies commencing December 1 - I’ll be taking classes for 20 hours per week plus study after class.

I went to Sogang University with a friend of mine. He was asked to go by the head teacher in order to be part of a photoshoot for the next textbook. He’s already in one of the books, the info pamphlet, and web site - but the teachers like him and he’s done a lot for them. Anyhow he was also going to register for the final level winter semester and suggested I register at the same time, so I went.
Since I was there I was asked to participate in the photoshoot. Apparently I’ll be in the level 4 textbook. If this is true, I’ll be sitting on the grass with a about 4-6 students depending on which picture they use (I was in all of them). The funny thing here is that this semester I’ll be doing level 2 or 3 depending on how my level test goes (Novemeber 17th is my scheduled day) so eventually when I make it to level four, I’ll be in a class looking at a textbook with a picture of myself in it and talking about it. Tomorrow, I’m going to Singapore for a week. I’ll finish the Macquarie review when I get back. While I"m gone I’ll be turning on comment moderations. I probably don’t need it, but since I won’t be around to monitor, it’s probably better to be safe.
See you all in a week.

David is coming to Korea and would like some advice on what books to purchase before arriving to help him learn Korean. The details to his question can be found in a comment on my EFL Geek blog: this entry. You can leave advice for him there or here, though he has told me he won’t be joining this blog until he feels a little stronger in his, currently non-existant, Korean skills.
Thanks for your helping him out.

In the very near future I should be increasing my activity around here. I’ve completed my M.A. and should have more time. Over the next week I need to catch up on grading and have it all submitted by next friday. Afer that I wait to see if my summer classes will be opened. If they are I will be posting here but not as much as I would like. If the courses are not opened (and there is a good chance they won’t be) then I will be shifting into high gear Korean study.
Hopefully, now that vacation season is upon us more posters here will be active. 열심이 공부 합시다!
